Privacy Policy
E10 Events ("the app," "we," "us") is an event app for the Order of the Arrow, Section E10, a program of Scouting America. E10 Events is developed by a volunteer team advised by Jeff Jones for the Order of the Arrow, Section E10. This policy explains what the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It operates under and in addition to Scouting America's Privacy Policy, available at scouting.org/legal/privacy-policy.
Who uses the app
The app is used by Scouts and adult leaders at scouting events. Some users are minors. We are committed to following the Google Play Families Policy and applicable children's-privacy law, and we minimize the data we collect accordingly (see "Children's privacy" below).
Accounts are created through Scouting America, not in the app
You do not create an account inside the app. Accounts are provisioned through the Scouting America registration system and then accessed in the app. The app holds only the limited information described below; your full registration record (identity, guardian details, contact information) lives in the Scouting America system, not in the app.
Information the app collects
Name — the display name shown on your profile and to
other event participants. Required.
Account and device identifiers — an account
identifier and an install binding used to keep you signed in and
to protect accounts against fraud and abuse. Required.
Profile photo — optional. Only if you choose to add
one.
Event activity — your scan history,
badge/achievement progress, and which announcements you have read, so
the app can show your progress and unread items. Required for the app
to function.
Diagnostic information — basic information sent when
the app registers an installation, used to operate and troubleshoot
the service.
Location — optional. When you open an event's venue
map, the app can use your device's location to show a “you are
here” marker on that map. Your location is used only on
your device, only while you’re using the app — it
is never stored on our servers, never transmitted off your
phone, and never shared with anyone or used for tracking or
advertising. The app works fully without it; you can decline the
location permission and still use everything else.
Information the app does not collect
No private messages. Announcements are
broadcast-only; the app has no direct or user-to-user messaging.
No advertising or tracking. We do not use your data
for advertising, we do not track you across other apps or websites,
and we show no ads.
No hardware or platform advertising identifiers.
How we use information
We use the information above only to provide the app: to sign you in, show your profile and event activity, deliver announcements and notifications, and keep accounts secure. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
How information is shared
We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. Limited operational exceptions: push notifications are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging acting as our service provider; and we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of participants.
Where data is stored and security
App data is stored on self-hosted infrastructure operated by Section E10 for this app — it is not handed to third-party commercial cloud vendors. All data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Children's privacy
The app serves an audience that includes minors. We collect only what the app needs to function, we do not use children's data for advertising or behavioral profiling, and we follow the Google Play Families Policy and applicable law. Parents and guardians may request access to or deletion of a participant's data using the options below.
Your choices and how to request deletion
You (or a parent/guardian on a participant's behalf) may request deletion of an account and its associated app data at privacy.e10events.org/delete.
Because accounts are provisioned through the Scouting America registration system and are not created in the app, we verify each request against our registration records and confirm intent with the Scout or guardian before acting on it. Verified requests are honored by our admin team.
Deleting your app data does not delete your records in the Scouting America registration system, which is operated separately by Scouting America; see their privacy policy (linked above) for those records.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
